Do We Attribute Bad to Good People?

Isa 48:17-19

Meditation

God teaches what is right to his people and guides them on the right path. He does not look for his advantage and interest; his interest is the concern of his people. He is happy and joyful when humans live right and do well in life. God rejoices in the good of humans and wishes them well. God, being born as a human person, accomplishes this ultimate good of humans.

Many accept that life is good and has a lot of joy. It is assumed that humans run into hardships and difficulties in life, sometimes beyond their limits. In such cases, one needs God’s grace and help to overcome evil and what humanity lacks. So, God will not abandon humans to themselves but come down to be with them to understand and uplift humanity from all the impending evils and weaknesses.

Do we know the love that God has for us?

Do We Attribute Bad to Good People?

“To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others: “‘We played the pipe for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not mourn.’ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’  The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.” (Mt 11:16-19)

We are all special to attribute evil and wrong to people's lives. When we do not like people, we attribute evil to them and see every action of theirs as negative. The people of Jesus’ time found Him special, and they wanted to malign His name, so they called Him a glutton and drunkard.  These common weaknesses in food and drink could be attributed to many factors.

We attribute the same weakness to many good people. We believe this, and we manage to spoil the good name of others. It is good to realize that our weakness in destroying the good names of others is not wisdom. The Lord is asking us not to attribute evil to good people. Let us look at our own lives and be transformed.

Do I attribute negativity to others?
