The Lord Comforts Us!
Some people are given
a charism to comfort others. Their words and gestures were very
comforting. Humans are in flux, chaos, distraction, and fear. They are looking
for someone to comfort them. In the present world, nothing is certain. Life has
become momentary, and nothing seems to give permanent joy and
satisfaction. In people's lives, there is a lot of trickery, cheating, and evil at work.
Humans become victims of evil,
one sort or the other, and all kinds of evil fall on humanity. In such a world,
there is a great need for humans to have comforters. God only can give
humans true and lasting comfort. God protects us like a shepherd. The shepherd
guards and guides on the right path from all the wild animals. The shepherd
knows his sheep, and he does the needful. Likewise, Jesus will come to our
homes and give us lasting comfort and solace.
Do we seek lasting comfort or
temporary happiness?
Gospel: Mt 18:12-14
Meditation
“What do you think? If a man owns a hundred
sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the
hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is
happier about that one sheep than the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In
the same way, your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little
ones should perish. (Mt 18:12-14)
God came to save us. We all want to be saved. We seek salvation. We are
sinners. We are afraid that we may not be saved. We constantly rebel and go
away from God. We knowingly and unknowingly choose evil and go astray. The Lord comes after us to save us. We are
unfaithful; the Lord is always faithful.
As human beings, we could take the wrong path, but God, by His very
essence, is loving and interested only in our good. So, Jesus says that the heavenly Father
does not want even the little ones to perish. He wants to Save us all.
Do you believe that God came to
Save us?
