Pray to the Holy Spirit!
3rd Week Monday of Ordinary Time
Year One
Heb 9:15, 24-28
Meditation
Jesus is the New Covenant, the perfection of the Old Covenant. In the New Covenant, a sacrifice is
offered, and sins are forgiven. Jesus brought salvation. In his second coming
at the end of the world, he will save those eagerly waiting for him.
The whole Church eagerly awaits
the world to come. In the world to come, there will be no wailing and tears. In
heaven, there will be holy people, those who are purified, and those who have
been waiting for the Lord. Everyone's eternal home will be heaven.
Do we eagerly wait for the Lord
to save us?
Year Two
2 Sam 5:1-7,10
David becomes king. God prepares him, anoints him, and keeps
him in service. David is made king at thirty, and as a young man, he becomes
king of Israel. He rules for forty years—a long reign. God gives him a long
time of rule, power, and service. It could be because of the person's faithfulness to be a witness, to show his love, to manifest his protection, and
to transform oneself to be better.
Long time in office or service need not be one’s merit but
the grace of God. One must use time, seasons, and years for the good of oneself
and others. We know David’s achievements, failures and commitment to the Lord,
which brings him mercy and blessing.
Is a long life, years of service one’s merit?
Gospel: Mk 3:22-30
‘Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for
their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter; but whoever blasphemes against
the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness but is guilty of an eternal sin’-
for they had said, ‘He has an unclean spirit (Mk 3:28-30).
Today, we read in scripture that
all sins will be forgiven except the sin against the Holy Spirit. The Holy
Spirit inspires, leads, and guides us. We need to submit to Him and be guided
by Him.
If we reject Him and his guidance, we cannot follow God's path. Consequently, we will fall into sin, and this
sinful state of life will not be altered. We may remain in sin forever. Let us
be submissive to the Holy Spirit.
Do I pray to the Holy Spirit?
