Do we seek wisdom?

7th Week Wednesday of Ordinary Time
Year One
Sir 4:11-19
Those who
seek wisdom will have life, joy, glory and blessings. The Lord loves those who
love wisdom. They will govern nations, and they will be secure and safe. Those
who have faith in wisdom will have it, and it will remain with them. It will
help them to live well and do right. If one does not follow, it will be ruined.
Do we
seek wisdom?
Year Two
James 4:13-17
Human beings make plans for business and life. They are sure
of their plans and schemes. Yet, at times, humans are sure of their plans and
programs; they make them arrogant and boastful, which leads to evil.
Self-sufficiency leads one to evil against others and God. Dependence upon God
and others is life and leads to communion and happiness.
In most cases, humans know what to do but sometimes choose
to do evil. Knowing what is right and choosing to do evil makes us against God
and others, leading us to feel guilty and sinful in the sight of God. One has
to develop spiritual strength slowly and steadily to say no to what is wrong
and to be able to choose right every time with the help of God. In this dilemma
of choosing evil and good one is not alone; the holy Spirit is at work. Let us
be bold enough to make choices in life for good with the help of the Holy
Spirit.
Do we depend upon God and others?
Gospel Mk 9:38-40
Anyone
can do good in the name of Jesus. Those who do good in the proper sense are
with and in God. Those who are with Jesus cannot be against him. It is good to
check if we are with Jesus. Sometimes, we may be doing great things in the
world. It may even be miracles, but are we with God? The good is deceiving yet
times. It is essential to be with Jesus; then we will not go astray or live in
evil.
Are our
good actions in Jesus' way?
