Keep the Laws!
5th Week: Wednesday Ordinary Time
Year One
Gen 2:4-9, 15-17
Meditation
Keep the Laws!
Created men and women and gave
the garden all the possible fruits. He gave them the condition that they not eat
the fruit of one tree. God has created us in freedom, but this freed needs
responsibility. Freedom without proper use will cause destruction. It was needed
as a condition of freedom. The humans liked the freedom but failed to follow
the law and command of God. While we enjoy freedom, we fail to keep the law of
God.
Do we keep the law of the God?
Year Two
1 King 10:1-10
The Queen of Sheba Visits Solomon
King Solomon's fame reached its
peak with the visit of the queen of Sheba. What is said and spoken of King
Solomon is confirmed by Queen Sheba about his buildings, wealth, rule, culture,
and wisdom. She particularly says King Solomon's relationship with his God is
great and wonderful. She was happy about the good connection and contact with
his God. She praised his God for him, for his God was good with him and blessed
him with many good things.
She appreciates his spirituality
more than his wealth and wisdom. She must have been a seeker of God and spiritual
life. She clarified many questions; she might
have had good counsel and advice on all her problems for her and her kingdom.
There is nothing wrong with seeking advice from people known to be wise and
good, irrespective of our office. She found much joy not in Solomon's worldly
wisdom but in his wisdom of God and his connection with the Divine.
Do you know that people seek
Divine wisdom and not wealth from others?
Gospel Mk 7:14-23
Then he called the crowd again
and said to them, ‘Listen to me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing
outside a person that by going in can defile, but the things that come out are
what defile. (Mk 7: 14-15).
The law of nature is clear: What comes outside defiles. Intrinsically, we are good, holy, and made to be with God. The evil that comes out of us in different ways in our words and deeds defiles us. Let us be aware of our words and actions and take care of them.
Receive the good into us and let only the
spirit of goodness flow out of us for the good of others and our good. Let us
not defile others and ourselves. Let us keep ourselves as innocent children of
God.
Let us be aware of those things
that defile us.
