Let God's mercy lead us.

4th Week Friday of Ordinary Time

Year One

Heb 13:1-8

Meditation

Let God's mercy lead us.

The values of life, the love of God, and the love of others are valued at all ages. Love those who are strangers and care for them. Today, due to migration, we find many strangers be kind and respect them.  It is always a great value to keep the marriage bed undefiled. Being faithful and keeping the marriage vows is a value expected of every married person. Faithfulness to the spouse is faithful to oneself and God. Give due honour to your leaders of faith and to every kind of leader.

Do we remember Christ is unchanging?

Year Two

Eccle 47:2-11

The beginnings of David's life was glorious. He played with dangerous animals but was unharmed. He fought with enemies, and he was victorious. He played music and danced. He loved God, and God listened to him. The Lord made him king. The favour the Lord was with him. God made a covenant with him. We know the other side of David's life, but the God who loves us continue to love us, not the sin in us. Each time and again, one needs to remain and renew oneself.

Do you know God’s love is lasting?

Gospel: Mk 6:14-29

King Herod heard of it, for Jesus’ name had become known. Some said, ‘John the baptizer has been raised from the dead, and for this reason, these powers are at work in him.’ But others said, ‘It is Elijah.’ And others said, ‘It is a prophet, like one of the prophets of old. But when Herod heard of it, he said, ‘John, whom I beheaded, has been raised (Mk 6: 14-16).’

When we see great qualities in someone, we attribute to that person the great and noble qualities of the past. Guilt is more associated with the guilty if they have done evil to good people. The guilt will come back in life again and again. Herod's situation was similar; seeing Jesus' good works, he thought John had come to life.

We know that John was Jesus's forerunner. But Herod might not have known and understood Jesus as much as we can. We, too, go through such confusion in life. In our hard times and good times, let us entrust ourselves to God's goodness. Let God's mercy lead us.

Do I entrust myself to the Lord in times of confusion?
