Do we Like to Give up Sin!
1st Week of Lent Friday
Ezek 18:21-28
Meditation
Do we Like to Give up Sin!
The Lord is the God of mercy and provider of ample
chances to change for the good. If a just man falls into sin and lives in sin, he
will have eternal death. If a sinner makes peace with God and returns to God, he will live through his many sins. God forgives the sinner of all his
sins and does not remember them. He is given a chance to live a holy
life. God wants everyone to come back to him.
God eagerly waits for us to return to him and give up our evil ways. God is like a shepherd who cares for the strayed sheep. God is a prodigal father who longs for the return of his lost sons. The father's joy has no bounds when the lost sons come to his abode to be with him. God is merciful, and his mercy is given to all those who seek him with a sincere
heart.
Do we have the heart and desire to give up sin?
Gospel: Mt 5:20-26
Meditation
Come to terms quickly
with your accuser while you are on the way to court with him, or your accuser
may hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you will be
thrown into prison. Truly, I tell you, you will never get out until you have
paid the last penny (Mt 5:25-26).
The Lord teaches us the good points for our life. Those who
fight and quarrel do it till they win and never give up until much harm is done
to others and themselves. The Lord is inviting us to make peace with one with whom
we have quarrelled. Many may suggest that the fight should continue. The Lord extols
us to settle the matter before we go to the Judge on the way itself. If not, we
would pay heavily for our arrogance.
Do we recognize our arrogance in times of quarrel?
