Do we Seek God!
1st Week of Lent Thursday
Esther 4:17
Meditation
Do we Seek God!
God chooses Queen Esther to save the people of the Jews. She does use her intelligence and influence to save the Jews. God choose persons to save his people. Esther prays to God for her courage and strength to protect her. She is proud of being raised in a Jewish family. The prayer of Esther is for help, family and the Jewish community. She prays for courage to face the enemy. The enemies in life are true, and we need God’s grace to face them. Finally, she submits to the Lord’s care and protection.
We need to have love for the church and the people of God. Today, there are many forces that are against the family, community and church, so each one should be bold, like Easter, to protect the community of faith. It is the responsibility of everyone to see that the faith that is brought to us is communicated and passed on to the next generations by way of protecting it and handing it on.
Do we make an effort to protect the community of faith?
Gospel: Mt 7:7-12
Meditation
"Ask, and it will be given you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for bread, will give a stone? Or if the child asks for a fish, will they give a snake? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask him! "In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets (Mt 7:7-12).
Earth produces in abundance. Nature gives us plenty. God gives us generously. God provides good things. God can only provide precious things to those who ask. We need to accept what comes from God. God gives us good things because He knows what we need and what is not necessary for our lives. Such an attitude and set of mind we find in the parents towards their children. Let us search, knock and ask; then we will find, be opened, and be given.
Do we make searching, knocking and asking for spiritual things a habit?
