God is the Ordinary!
3rd Week of Lent Wednesday
Deut 4:1,5-9
God is the Ordinary!
Meditation
The Lord is inviting the people
of Israel to keep the laws of God. The laws of the Lord have been taught to God's people over the years, but they have been taught the hard way. The life lessons for life and
spiritual life are taught to the people through the history of the people of
God. God took time to make them understand his love for them. He gave them laws
and commands to follow.
The Lord reminds the people of
God to remember the wonders of God. It is easy for us to forget the works of
God and the happenings of life. The difficult times pass, and good times pass; it is
normal for people to forget both and to live as if there was no God’s hand. To
our poor memories, we need either one problem or a miracle to remind us about
the goodness of God and the need to obey the laws and commandments of God,
which are given to us by God with love for light to our path in the world.
Do we remember the goodness of
God in the ordinary times of life?
Gospel: Mt 5:17-19
Meditation
"Do not think that I have come to abolish
the law or the prophets; I have come not to abolish but to fulfil. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth
pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will pass from the law
until all is accomplished. Therefore,
whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them
and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven (Mt 5:17-19).
The Word of God is powerful. It
enables us to be on the right path. We believe that the Word became flesh. Word
became life. We believe that Jesus came to be born from the Word of God. God’s
Word is life and real. In this sense, every Word of God will bear fruit. It is
true all that the Lord has said will take place, ‘for truly I tell you, until
heaven and earth pass away, not one letter, not one stroke of a letter, will
pass from the law until all is accomplished. (Mt 5:18)
Do we trust the Word of God will
bear fruit in our lives?
