Is Our Community in Sin?

2nd Week of Lent Monday

Dan 9:4-10

Meditation

Daniel Prays to God for his people. He also confesses the sins of the people of Israel. The confession of Daniel is public and open. He confesses the sins of people like rebellion, unfaithfulness and disobedience. Open confession is good for the people for they come to know their sins. Let people know they are in sin. The sins against God and others are not only their personal sins but the sins of humanity. They are not only about one or two individuals but of every individual.

Some are of the opinion that they are sinless or it is alright to be in sin, still others are of the opinion sin does not exist. All these attitudes of sin are dangerous.  These attitudes do much harm to the collective consciousness and community. In such cases, the good of the individuals and personal good should make a public confession.  A prophetic confession is healing to the sinners who believe in sinlessness. Though private confession is very beneficial for the spiritual life; public confession of sins of people is beneficial for the spiritual life of the community. The prophets, ministers, leaders and preachers need to make a public confession of the general sins of people.

Do you know that before the individual is in sin the community is in sin?

Gospel: Lk 6:36-38

Meditation

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. On judging others  "Do not judge, and you will not be judged; do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap; for the measure you give will be the measure you get back." (Lk 6:36-38).

God is merciful to Humans. God Loves them, but the humans go away from him to live in sin. God in his goodness loves them and wishes them good. His mercy is shown to them by being good with them. He did not abandon them in their hard-headedness and stubbornness of heart. He went after them like a shepherd.

In every age and time, he led them on the right path; so that we may have fulness of life in Jesus. He avoided judging and punishing instead protecting and blessing with good things to be joyful.

To whom do we need to be merciful?
