Look for Message in the Word of God!

Year One
Sir 17:24-29
Meditation
Look for Message in the Word of God!
Yet to those who repent, he
grants a return and encourages those who are losing hope. (Sir 17:24)
An erring child’s parents
patiently wait for their child to return to the right path. It is human to go
astray. As humans, we are all prodigal sons and daughters. Earthly parents are concerned for the family's black sheep; rather than correcting them forthrightly,
they permit them to correct themselves and do well. God the Father will be more
patient with those who err and become slaves to various weaknesses.
The invitation to repentance is
the constant call God has given us through prophets and in the last days
through Jesus. We may come up with an impossible attitude for
me to overcome. The Lord is merciful, and with the help of God, nothing is
impossible to overcome. The dead cannot give praise to God. It is the living
that praise God. It is the living that can alter their lives for the better
with the help of the Lord. The Lord is merciful and kind; let us hope in him to
repent and experience the mercy of God. Have the courage to change for the
better with the help of God!
Do we depend upon the mercy of
God?
Year Two
1 Peter 1:3-9
The most
durable material is gold; it is refined in the fire. Humans are the crown of
creation, and their bodies join the earth. Jesus, through his resurrection, has
given us hope to human beings, and the hope is lasting that humans have eternal
life. Our joy comes from the Lord, who came to save us and lead us to the
Father.
God has
given us faith in Jesus, and our faith is a gift. We believe in the unseen God
who leads us to our destination, heaven. Human beings are the most vulnerable,
yet they possess strength beyond measure to rise above negativity and evil and
be united with the Divine. Let us be grateful to God for the Spirit he has put
into us for life everlasting.
Can you
note an instance in which you often lose hope?
Gospel Mk 10:17-27
Those who want to follow Christ
must give up radically. In the history of the church, we have seen such people
as St Anthony of the Desert, St Benedict, and many others. The call to follow
Christ radically poor is not a call to all. The call to the lay couple is not
to sell and follow Christ but to keep the property, take care of it, and hand
it down to the children's welfare, which is their call to follow Christ. Even
the couple must keep God's commandments and the charity of justice.
How do we take the gospel for our
life word for word or the message needed for us?
