Whom do we Obey?
Thursday after Ash Wednesday
Deut 30:15-20
Meditation
Whom do we Obey?
God offers to us life, prosperity, death and destruction. It is our choice to choose what we wish. Life may be all of these, but we can choose what we wish to be with the help of God. Evil will befall upon us if we disobey God and choose other gods. Other gods would mean to look for gods in the worldly things and material things. To make what is temporal and material an idol and worship and give priority to it and disobey God and his ways.
Choosing God and obeying his ways is to invite life in fullness. Right living comes from within every person. At the right living one loves God and follows his ways. Such people find a lot of joy and happiness. No sorrow and no block could ever destroy them and take away the peace and joy from their life. If God is with us we would have everything in life. To be right with God is to obey him and listen to him.
Do we need to obey God or the material world?
Gospel: Lk 9:22-25
Meditation
"The Son of Man must undergo great suffering, and be rejected by the elders, chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised." The requirements of discipleship. Then he said to them all, "If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it. What does it profit them if they gain the whole world, but lose or forfeit themselves? (Lk 9:22-25)
We know the principle in everything one wishes to gain and gain and never lose and lose. In the spiritual realm, the loss is gain and gain is losing. Only when we lose ourselves, do we gain in life. Learning to let go and learning to lose apparently on earth is a gain in life.
In life if we gain the whole world and lose our soul; what kind of gain it be? This spiritual principle is hard to accept but it is true, in the calculations of the spiritual world. May the Lord bless us to enter into the spiritual world, while we are on earth.
Are we aware that we are looking for eternal life?
