Be a Change Maker!
5th Week of Lent Wednesday
Dan 3:14-20,24-25,28
Meditation
Be a Change Maker!
King Nebuchadnezzar wanted the
three young men, namely Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, to worship other gods.
The three young men refused to do so; they were thrown into the fire. In the fire, they were not consumed. Instead, a fourth person was moving in the fire.
The fourth person was the son of god.
God's protection will not be withdrawn from those who put their hope in the Lord. We
have many instances where God protects people who hoped and trusted in him. God
is a faithful God.
At the end of the reading, we
note that King Nebuchadnezzar believes in the God of these three young men. The
faith of the just and good will do wonders. The faith and witness of the people of God will transform individuals, giving them faith and hope and enabling them to bear witness to God and His mercy. The joy of God is when one transforms
himself/herself as the son/daughter of God. Each one should become an agent of
transformation.
Am I an agent of transformation
in the world?
Gospel: Jn 8:31-42
Meditation
They answered him, "Abraham is our
father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you
would be doing what Abraham did, but now you are trying to kill me, a man who
has told you the truth that I heard from God. This is not what Abraham
did. You are indeed doing what your
father does." They said to him, "We are not illegitimate children; we
have one father, God himself." Jesus said to them, "If God were your
Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now I am here. I did not
come on my own, but he sent me (Jn 8:39-42).
We say that we believe in God. We
say that we pray to God. We perform rituals to demonstrate our love and honour for God. The fact is that, in reality, our lives often do not reflect that we love God and have faith in Him. Jews were claiming to be sons of Abraham, but
their lives did not show that they were the sons of Abraham. They were
rejecting Jesus, who came from the Father. Sadly, they were not able to
recognize Jesus as sent by God. It is very much true in life; we fail to
recognize Jesus as the Son of God in our lives. Faith is a gift of God. We need to
pray for the gift. We also need to safeguard our faith in Jesus. It is our
bounden duty to proclaim the faith that we have in Jesus.
Do we take the chance to proclaim our
faith in Jesus?
