Let Go to Jesus!
5th Week of Easter Monday
Acts 14:5-18
Meditation
Let Go to Jesus!
In Lystra, Paul cures the lame man's leg. People shout that god came to be among them. They refer to Paul and
Barnabas as Hermes and Zeus, respectively. The human mind is such that it immediately wants to offer a sacrifice to the man-made god. There is a tendency in
humans to deny the Divine and go after the other gods of attraction, those who
give momentary satisfaction, superficial elation. Paul and Barnabas strongly
protested by tearing their clothes. One tears his/her clothes in times of desperation as a protest against the detestable acts of people.
They acknowledge that they are
not gods but human instruments. It is great humility in time of name and fame
to accept that we are human and God sent people not gods. Every wonder in our
lives and in the lives of the community is because of the goodness of God.
Humans have a tendency to divert the praise due to God to some other gods and
people. Let us accept that God works wonders in our lives and in our time.
Are we not going away from God
time and again?
Gospel: Jn 14: 21-26
Meditation
Jesus tells us, ’If you love me, keep my commandments. If you keep my commandments, you will love me and the
Father. If you love me, the Father will also love you.’ Father, Son and Holy
Spirit will come and stay with you; that is the presence of God with us. If we
keep his commandments, you will be loved by the Father, Son and the Holy
Spirit. The mystery of the Trinity is revealed vividly to us in the gospel of St
John: That our God is three persons and they are one. The Spirit reveals to us
the unfathomable mysteries of God’s revelations. Jesus promised us that he
would send the helper in our faith journey. The helper is the Holy Spirit, who
guides us on the right path of faith to eternal life.
Do we contemplate the mystery of
the Trinity?
