What is the Bread of Life for You?
The Ethiopian eunuch was an
important official. It is noteworthy that a eunuch was holding a high profile
job in the treasury of the Kandake (which means “queen of the Ethiopians”).
Society has recognized the worth of every individual of all ages. Sadly,
sometimes we disregard the neuter gender. It is possible that they can
contribute to the well-being of the society. Now we note the third gender
rights and their place is recognized in the society.
The eunuch was coming from
Jerusalem, and he was reading the book of Isaiah. Eunuch was reading about the
suffering servant and Messiah. Eunuch was not able to understand the text and so seeks Philp help led by the spirit
eunuch asks for baptism at a water pool. We note that Philip disappears to preach the gospel in all
the towns until he reaches Caesarea.
What is it that is blocking us to
be Baptized in Spirit again as born new Christians?
Gospel: 6:44-51
Meditation
‘No one comes to me unless he was
drawn by my father. One who has seen me has seen the Father. If you have learned
from the Father, you will come to me, says Jesus. ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes has eternal life. I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness,
and they died. This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may
eat of it and not die. I am the living
bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live
forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my
flesh.’
It is the Father who calls us to
himself. If you know the Father, you know the Son. If you see the Son, you have
seen the Father. Jesus says, “I am the bread of life” He is the eternal
life-giving bread. If we eat of his body as bread, we have no death; but have
life eternal. Do I long to have eternal life? Do you know what to do to have
eternal life? What is the bread of life for you?
Do you believe in the bread which
gives eternal life?
