Stop Enmity!

Year One
Stop Enmity!
2 Cor 3:15- 4:1, 3-6
5 For we do not proclaim ourselves; we proclaim Jesus Christ
as Lord and ourselves as your slaves for Jesus’ sake. 6 For it is the God who
said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” who has shone in our hearts to give
the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2
Cor 4: 5-6).
Christians are proclaimers and witnesses to faith. They are proclaimers of Christ. They are proclaimers of their weaknesses and the goodness of God. God came to save many in his mercy, for he loved the wonder of man, who is his own creation. We do not proclaim ourselves, for we are finite, but God, who is infinite. There is a tendency in humans to proclaim themselves; an undue self-proclamation is vanity and sin. We have nothing to proclaim but our creator and our saviour who suffered, died and rose again.
We are not abandoned but we are up lifted and given glory
with God. For we are wonderful creation of God. God loves humans and his love
is personal as we are all unique. May the name of the Lord be praised and
glorified and may his name be praised generation to generations. May we be
witnesses to his wonders in our life and in the generations gone by.
Do we acknowledge God’s wonders in our lives?
Year Two
1 Kings 18:41-46
God works miracles with prophets for his people and his
glory. God was with Elijah in all his undertakings. God reveals many things to
Elijah; he guides King Ahab; God tells him about the rain that will come. God
gives him a blessing to go before King Ahab to Jezreel. God's ways are not our
ways. God can do wonders with human beings. One has to cooperate with him and
be his servant with faithfulness.
Saints are the people who trusted not in themselves but in
the goodness of God. They made use of their human faculties to do the will of
God. As the hardships and temptations came on their way they entrusted
themselves to God. God does great works through the humble and simple.
Do we allow God to work in and through us?
Gospel
Mt 5: 20-26
Come to terms quickly with your
accuser while you are on the way to court[a] with him, or your accuser may hand
you over to the judge and the judge to the guard, and you will be thrown into
prison. 26 Truly I tell you, you will never get out until you have paid the
last penny. (Mt 5:26-27)
Coming to terms with oneself and
others is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength, wisdom and insight into
the given situation. We may have our ways, and so do the others, and both ways may be good and convincing. But we need to be messengers of peace,
initiate the peace process and reach a consensus so as to live in peace and
harmony with one another. In anger, we cannot pray, be ourselves and advance in
life. We need to forgive and let go of all anger, thereby experiencing wholeness
of life. It may take time, but it has to happen for a good life. The word of
God, nature around us and the occasions of life help us to shed our anger and
live in peace. May we comprehend the situations of anger and act well for the
good.
Do I take the first step to put
an end to enmity?
