Trust that God Provides Our Needs.
10th Week Ordinary Time
Monday
Year One
2 Cor 1:1-7
Trust that God Provides Our Needs.
Blessed be the God and Father of
our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, who consoles us in all our affliction, so that
we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation
with which we ourselves are consoled by God. For just as the sufferings of Christ are
abundant for us, so also our consolation is abundant through Christ. If we are being afflicted, it is for your
consolation and salvation; if we are being consoled, it is for your
consolation, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings
that we, so also you share in our consolation(2 Cor 1:3-6).
Human life has afflictions. Afflictions are part of everyone. Along with
the afflictions, there are also consolations added to life. They are not just part of life; we look at these
afflictions and consolations with an eye of faith as coming from the provident
hands of God. This outlook on hardships and sorrows gives meaning to our lives.
Our life is not over with this life on earth, but we have an eternal life that
is in heaven. Let us hope and trust in
the Lord, who is the meaning of life.
Do we have the eye of faith to
look at happenings of life as God’s ways?
Year Two
1 Kings 17:1-6
Meditation
Humans work to earn a living.
It is right and just to make food and drink. One should keep in mind that life means not only food and drink. One has to seek righteousness, justice, and the kingdom of God, and everything will be added unto us. One has to seek the Kingdom of God, which should be the aim of life. For the Kingdom of God provides
everything one needs.
One has to work for the Kingdom
of God. The Kingdom of God is made possible in our living settings. The Kingdom of God does not mean life to come after death, but one has to make it possible and
establish it while one is alive. When one works for the Kingdom of God with
this goal and purpose, everything will be provided as ravens provide food for
Elijah. God knows how to take care of needs. God is the God of providence.
Do we trust in God to provide our needs?
Trust that God Provides Our
Needs.
Gospel
Mt 5:1-12
Meditation
The beatitudes invite us to be poor in spirit, to be meek, to long for justice, to be merciful, to be pure, to make peace, and those who suffer will be rewarded. To those who love the word of God and keep it, there will be manifold blessings. If one begins to count the blessings of God, one’s lifetime is not enough.
God continuously blesses us. He blesses us with nature, elders, and those whom we least expect. The Lord does wonders in our lives. The blessings flow into our lives like a river flowing down from a mountain. The blessings cannot be contained in a person. Every person has to turn to be a blessing and know the greatness of God. Those who are proud, selfish, and self-sufficient
do not note the blessings of God.
Do we account for the blessings of
God?
