Account the Blessings of God!
God speaks to Moses and Aaron at Mount
Sinai. A covenant was made between the people and God. The people had given
word that all that the Lord commanded would be done by them. Doing what God
wants from us is obeying God and finding meaning in life. The rebellion in us
is the work of the evil one. Let us be aware of such a tendency of revolt
against God.
The people were consecrated to
God. They were told to be faithful to God and holy. If they are not careful,
they would fall away from God and holiness. God wants us to be close to him and
be holy; for God called us to share in his holiness. We may think it is impossible to be holy and
be set apart for God. What is envisaged by God for us is that we humans be holy
and happy. God time and again reminds us about his invitation for us to be holy
and realize the wonder of human life.
Are we willing to consecrate
ourselves to God?
Year Two
Jeremiah 2:1-3, 7-8, 12-13
The Lord blessed people of
Israel. They enjoyed life to the full. God gave them a land full of food and drink. A time came when priests, lawmakers,
shepherds, and even the prophets forgot about God and gave Him due honour. It could happen in a time of blessing; one
may forget about God and think of oneself as the cause of all good things. The
very people who are to guard the system of God have forgotten God and his
blessings. They did two things wrong:
first, they have forsaken God, and second, they tried to do things on their own
to get what they needed.
Do we forget God in times of blessings?
Mt 13:10-17
But blessed are your eyes because
they see, and your ears because they hear.
For truly I tell you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see
what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear.
(Mt 13:16-17)
We should be happy that the Lord
has granted us life to see and experience these days. Many longed to see what we see but could not
see the world and its colours. We are
fortunate, and so are we, to be grateful to him. It is not only about the world and its ways,
but even the interior things of the soul and its manifestation of God’s glory
are something noteworthy. We need to
praise, adore and glorify God for his blessings upon us.
To some of us, it happens that
our hearts grow dull, we can hardly hear with our ears, and our eyes are
closed. On the other hand, if we keep
our hearts, ears, and eyes open, we see the wonders of God.
Are you happy to see what you are
able to see in this world and give glory to God?
