Here am I. Send me!”

Year One
Here I am. Send me!”
Gen 49:29-33; 50:15-25
Jacob was buried in the same place as Abraham, and Joseph's bones were said to have been taken to Canaan. Moses carries the
bones of Joseph back to Canaan. Why this attachment to place and people? Live
in a God-given place. Maybe God’s own land is the holy land. An attachment to place
can be imprisoning, but associated with blessings, it could be liberating. We
fight for the places and lands … so many wars were fought for holy places, and many wars are being fought. Why not be liberated from attachment to places and
worship, for God is wherever we are? Whatever situation we live in, it is God
given. Lord knows what is good for us. Let us take life as it comes!
Are we free from attachment to a
place?
Year Two
Isa 6:1-8
Meditation
“Here I am , Send me!”
“We know that the Lord is holy, no
one can become as holy as God. We remain human and sinful. At the sight and
thought of the holiness of God, Isaiah says, “Woe to me!” I cried. “I am ruined! For
I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my
eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” Then one of the seraphim flew to
me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar.
He touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is
taken away and your sin atoned for.”
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who
will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
We are unworthy of God’s
blessings and God’s goodness. We have sinned in word and deed. We have no hope
of being holy and doing service to the Lord. The mercy and goodness of God
purified us to be acceptable to the Lord and sent us out with a willingness to do
his mission. The mission belongs to the Lord, and we are just fragile
instruments of God. Let us be able instruments of the Lord in his hands.
Are you ready to be sent on a
mission to save?
Mt 10:24-33
“A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a
slave above the master; it is enough for the disciple to be like the teacher,
and the slave like the master. If they have called the master of the house
Beelzebub, how much more will they malign those of his household! (Mt 10:24-25)
Children will grow up, but they are not greater than their parents. The disciples will become more learned than
their teacher, but they are not greater than the teacher. The slave may become
free and do better than the master, but he is not greater than the master. The source of life, knowledge and power is not greater than those that follow them. What is noble will be noble, and what is great will be great; the accidentals may change, but the source of nature
and importance will not change.
Do I outdo in getting importance than the people who deserve it?
