I am with You!
16th week Wednesday in Ordinary
Time
Year One
Ex 16:1-5, 9-15
I am with You!
In many public places, complaint boxes are kept for people to
express their observations, suggestions and recommendations. They are
considered if they are worthwhile. The people of Israel complained to Moses and
God that they had no food or meat. The
complaint of the people was heard by God. God provides them quails to have meat
in the evening and bread from heaven as fine as frost. The people collected and
ate to their heart’s content. Good food is appreciated by everyone. Daily, we
thank God for food. We are grateful to people who supply food to us. Food gives
life. Humans want life and life to the full. The mana which was given in the
desert is the foretaste of eternal food of body and blood of Jesus.
Do we long for Eternal Food?
Year Two
Jer 1:1, 4-10
I am with You!
The Lord calls Jeremiah. Jeremiah was a young man. He
touches his mouth and puts his word in his mouth. The call is from God. The
call of God is for a purpose. It does not matter where you are. What are you? What matters is the call,
commission and mission. The Lord certainly needs human yes to God. To say yes
to God’s call, one needs humanity. Letting go of one's ego and will. Allowing
one to be guided by the Lord.
As it was said of Jesus that he is going to be the cause of the rise and
fall of many. So also every prophet and minister is going to be for the rise
and fall of many. The ministry has to build and destroy for the good of the
Kingdom of God. Let the prophet be the prophet and let everyone who has fear of
the Lord follow the prophet's words. God’s prophets are not away in the desert, but they are among us. God speaks to us through the Word of God.
Do you like to be a prophet?
Mt 13:1-9
Still other seed fell on good
soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.
(Mt 13:8)
The parable of the Sower has a
lot to teach us about life. The word of
God, which is the seed and soil, is the heart in which it is sown. I would like to draw your attention to the
seed that fell on the good soil that produced good returns. It is up to us to prepare our hearts to
receive the word of God and make it bear fruit. It is time to reflect and see
what do we do with the Word of God that comes to our ears and heart. We have to
allow it to bear abundant fruit. Let us keep the soil of hearts fertile so that
the harvest may be a hundred, sixty or thirty times of what was sown.
Do we allow the Word of God to
take root in the heart to bear an abundant harvest?
