Learn to Do Right; Seek Justice!
15th week Monday in Ordinary Time
Year One
Ex 1:8-14, 22
Meditation
Learn to do right; seek justice!
There is time of prosperity and liberty, then comes oppression and suppression. We see life is made up of ups and downs. The Isreal were treated badly to control them. There is threat to progressive group or uprising people. the Isreal faced it in Egypt the oppression. Even today the thriving, industrious and productive people are target by the week and feeble to make their presence felt. The thinking of the destructive people would be to weaken the strong to make themselves feel strong. In common parlance we say this attitude is known as crab mentality. It is evil neither a human value or a Divine will. Let live and flourish and let others live and prosper!
Are we free from the attitude of
fulling down the other?
Year Two
Is 1:10-17
Learn to do right; seek justice
Human beings offer to God
different things, including animals, precious things, food, fruits and flowers.
God does not want all these things. They do not please or satisfy him. God does
not need any material things and they do not satisfy him. He needs us to be
right and just. God loves us and he needs our transformed lives.
The offerings we make are the
fruit of our work or the produce of our hands. They are of value and precious.
The offerings that we give to God are signs of our sacrifice. It should involve
the transformation of the heart and mind of the one who offers. As a sign, one
should live a just life and take care of the disadvantaged and those in need.
Such an offering is acceptable to God.
What is the fruit of our
offerings to God?
Mt10:34-11:1
Whoever does not take up their
cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for
my sake will find it. (Mt 10:38-39)
Today is the feast of St Benedict
the father of the monastic life. He gave rule for monastic life. The monastic
life is comprising of Ora et labora (work and prayer) this includes also
study of scripture.
Jesus carries the cross and died
on the cross, he says it is the path to be taken. Yes, Since he carried the
Cross, we have salvation and we are safe. We too need to carry our crosses to
overcome the world and evil one. The way to save our life is apparently to lose
it. The way to success is through failures, it is paradoxical but true. It is
not an old or an experiential saying the cross is the way to find life but it
is the path for eternal life. It is also for the success in the world today but
much more for the world everlasting life.
Do I accept and receive crosses
in my life?
