Recall the Place of Your God Experience!

14th Week Monday in Ordinary Time

Year One

Gen 28:10-22

Recall the Place of Your God Experience!

We feel the presence of God in the places we visit, live and have lived.  The presence of God is powerful in certain places. God dwells everywhere, and particularly in some holy places; his presence is felt in  those places where God is experienced, which are often frequented by people.  In the place of the dream of Jacob, he felt the presence of God and his assurance. He calls the place a house of God and the gate of heaven (Bethel). He takes a stone, pours oil on it, and builds an altar to offer prayers to God for the spiritual experience he had. Let us go back in time and remember the places of our spiritual experiences.

Do we remember the land of our spiritual experience?

God's Love is Lasting

A bond between the love and beloved, wife and husband, is deep and lasting. So is the love of God for Israel. God loves humanity as his spouse. His love is expressed in terms of conjugal terms to understand that God’s love is not a fancy show for name's sake, but it is full of commitment and responsibility.

Keeping aside the love bond between the spouses, one can note how committed they are to each other, to their posterity and to their household. A responsibility which needs a lot of sacrifices, even at the cost of losing their love for each other, for the good and well-being of the other members who are in their care.

Do you know that God feels for you/me?

Mt 9:18-26

While he was saying this, a synagogue leader came and knelt before him and said, “My daughter has just died. But come and put your hand on her, and she will live.” Jesus got up and went with him, and so did his disciples.( Mt 9:18-19

In the gospel of today, Jesus raised a dead girl and gave good health to a woman who was suffering from excessive discharge of blood for twelve years. Jesus is compassionate and caring.  People tend to look for Jesus, mostly, in times of trouble, as seen in the leader of the synagogue and the woman. Those who seek Jesus will receive what they need. We human beings need both material and spiritual graces. Today, what I would like to present to your reflection is the action-oriented Jesus. When called upon, Jesus makes the move; his movement to action in the Gospel brings forth two miracles.  We need to be action-oriented. We need to keep moving to do good. We should not give in to inaction. Do I make an effort to move into action at the appeal of others for their benefit?
