Ex 24: 3-8
Meditation
Sts. Anne and Joachim.
Moses
built the altar to offer burnt offerings.
He cut the oxen, some blood he poured on the altar, and some he sprinkled over people. He read the Word of God and
reminded the people to be obedient to him. When the blood was sprinkled on the people, they recalled the covenant of blood that the Lord had made with them. Reading the Word of God, obedience and acceptance of God’s way are the path to holy
life. A holy life is fruitful, despite many challenges.
Do we
obey God and his commands?
Mt 13:24-30
“‘No,’ he answered, ‘because
while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At
that time, I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in
bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”
(Mt 13:29-30)
The master of the field allows
the weeds to grow until the end of the harvest. The patience of the farmer is
great, allowing the weeds to grow alongside his crop until the end. The immediate
feeling is to remove the weeds as soon as we see it. Since there is a danger of destroying the good
plant, the time is given till the end of the crop. In the case of weeds, even if given time, they may not become good plants, but humans can change for the better. In man, there is the capacity to change for the good in the course of time. We need to be patient with people. It may take a lifetime to make changes, but humans are capable of change for the better. The positive people and God
are patient with those who are considered bad.
Do I manifest patience with
people who need to make a transformation in their lives?
