The Human Heart Yearns for God!

15th week Thursday in Ordinary Time

Year One

Ex 3:13-20

Meditation

Few days back I was told by a woman that even now some wives do not call their husbands by name. It is because of reverence and respect. In the case of God, people of Israel felt they were not worthy to name and call God with a name. God says to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” The name of God is revealed to humanity. It means God is presence, God is living and God is present. In the gospel of St John, we read that God will be worshiped in truth and spirit (Jn 4:24). God is one who would be revealed to mankind in the course of history of humankind and in personal history of life.

Do we believe in the presence of God with us?

Year Two

Isa 26:7-9, 12, 16-19

Meditation

The Human Heart Yearns for God!

The Lord is righteous. His ways are just and right. One has to learn to walk in the way of the Lord. The one who knows about the goodness and greatness of God falls in line with God and his ways. The deeds of the Lord are mighty and wonderful. One has to learn to love the Lord and his doings. The mind of humans marvels at the works of the Lord.

The heart of human beings yearns and longs for the Lord. The heart is a wonderful organ of the human being. It can feel the love of the Lord in our lives. The longing that we have for God is the ultimate desire that every human being should note and go on in search of that longing for the Lord. Blessed are those who long for the Lord and rest in his love. A human has no goal in life other than to yearn for the love of the Lord.

Do we Long for the Love of the Lord?

Mt 11:28-30

Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Mt 11:28-30)

The invitation of Jesus is sweet and loving.  It is true that when we go to him all our worries and burdens are undone and we enjoy peace and calmness.  In the case of some people, it happens that they take short and easy ways. But they do not find peace and joy.  The path to life and serenity is the way of JESUS. He will unload all our worries and burdens, to give us joy and happiness. Let us go to him, for he is the only one who can do miracles in our lives.

Do I go to Jesus to unload my burdens and worries?
