Year One
Judges 11: 29-39
Meditation
Keep the Vows Made
to the Lord!
Jephthah made
a vow that if he won against the Ammonites, he would offer ‘whatever comes forth from
the doors of my house to meet him.’ Upon returning from the war, he met his only daughter, and he was dismayed. The daughter agrees to keep his father's promise
to God. She takes time to be in the desert
and comes back to be an offering to the Lord.
We make vows to
the Lord, but we break them. Great are the men who make vows to the Lord and keep
them. Jephthah is a good example of keeping the vow made to the Lord.
Keeping the word and keeping the vows made to the Lord is keeping the
laws of God. Those who keep the laws of God will always be blessed
Do we keep the
vows made to the Lord?
Year Two
Ezekiel 36:23-28
The people of Israel were lost in
the pagan land. The Lord promises them
that he will bring back Israel to their own land. He will sanctify them and make them a people
and nation according to his plan. He purifies them and makes them obey his laws. The
people of Israel love their God, and they remember what God has done to them.
God comes to our help in every
event of our lives. We need faith and
trust in him. God will not leave us to evil
or in sin. He seeks ways to restore us to our original state of innocence. Our God is holy, and he leads us to a life of
holiness.
Do we trust that God sanctifies
us?
Mt 22:1-14
Then he said to his slaves, ‘The
wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. Go therefore into the main
streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.’ Those slaves
went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad;
so, the wedding hall was filled with guests. (Mt 22:8-10).
The Lord invites special people
for his banquet, but they were found not worthy; so, he fills the wedding hall
with good and bad alike. The Lord wants to fill the banquet hall with people.
He is not worried about who the people are. The Lord wants everyone to come and
enjoy the meal. God does not show partiality. God loves the whole of humanity. He has
no more or less important people. All are children of God. For God has no
discrimination; instead, the divisions are manmade. God’s creation is unique. God wants all to
enter the Kingdom of God.
Do you know that God prepared a
wedding banquet for you?
