Conversion of
Nineveh!
Meditation
A great fast
was proclaimed by Jonah. A great fast under taken by the people of Nineveh
seems to be very impressive. All the people and animals taken up fast and thus
to reform their lives. The Lord who sees their fast at the preaching of Jonah
and changes his mind instead of bringing calamity brings upon them life and
blessings. The Lord time and again brings his people for repentance and
conversion of heart. The reason for this is that for happiness of humans the
way is to changes of heart. As human beings are weak and fragile fall into sin
and evil. The way to overcome is to resolve to transformation and amend their
ways and return to God and his commands.
Do we make use
of times of conversion and renewal?

Meditation
True Conversion Takes Time!
After the conversion of Saul to Paul, he went to the Arabian
desert for three years to pray and be instructed. There may not be overnight
transformation in persons of different ranks. Every conversion has to be
strengthened and sustained by prayer, reflection, and purification and then
only taken up into action. Action without thought and inner strength will not
bear fruit or such actions will not last long. St Paul after his conversion had
spent considerable time in inner transformation.
As St Paul began his public ministry the people in Jude were
saying that the one who persecuted the church was instructing the people. The
believers praised God for him and the marvellous of the Lord. They were happy
about his works and preaching. Let us preach Christ despite our hardships and
trials.
Do we have the patience to grow in the grace of God?
Lk 10:38-42
Mary Sat the Feet of Jesus!
Now as they went on their way, he entered a
certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named
Mary, who sat at Jesus’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha
was distracted by her many tasks, so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you
not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her,
then, to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried
and distracted by many things, but few things are needed—indeed only one. Mary
has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”( Lk
10:38-42).
Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and
Marth was working. I would like to lead you to two ways of prayer: Action or
contemplation. Both of them are liked by Jesus our Master and Lord. Their love for the Saviour can be seen
in two different ways. Martha is serving the Lord by taking care of his
physical needs and working and practicing her way of perfection. Mary by
sitting at Lords feet. In prayer we need to make an effort to attain
contemplation or union with God. Mary went and sat at the feet of the Lord; she
was not worried about serving him or preparing food. It is natural to sit at
the feet of the Lord and enjoy His presence. Here Mary’s contemplation is
automatic, natural and God given (infused). There are two ways of prayer life:
some have to make an effort and for some it is natural and easy to enter into
union with God.
In praying do I need to make an
effort on my part, or it naturally flows into my life?
