Encouragement
for Israel!
Meditation
Punishment is
not a curb or to destroy a person or a community; it is to be able to overcome
what is lacking and to do well in life. In a way a displeasure at someone is
medicinal and constructive rather than destructive. The people of Israel were
punished for their sins and for the sins of their ancestors. Sometimes the
exile and the punishment they underwent was for years. But those years were
renewal and building up their faith in God. The Lord blessed them and brought
them back to their own land and gave them and their children joy and peace.
Our blessed
Mother is with us in our time of renewal and transformation. As Mary was at the
foot of the Cross, accompanying him to accomplish the salvific will of the
Father. As we recite the rosary in honour of our Blessed Mother Mary, we
contemplate on her life of sorrows and joys and we take part in our life and
make our life meaningful and worthwhile in the sight of God.
Year Two
Job 42:1-3, 5-6, 12-17
Even the Just Needs to Give a
Thought to Repentance
Job made up his mind to submit
himself to the Lord. The Lord is great and beyond human understanding. Job is a
just man but suffered a lot. God allowed the devil to test him. We learn from that though Job was tested by
the devil to suffer; on his part, he feels the need to despise himself and
repent in dust and ashes. The attitude of Job is great, and we all feel we are
just but let us have the humility to repent and transform ourselves. Everyone
needs purification of body, mind and spirit.
Job was purified and made his
body, mind and spirit just like that of the innocent child. He was given back
all the lost property, servants and children. He had a happy and good household
after all this suffering. The just will regain all their name and fame for the
glory of God. Job lived a hundred and forty years full of life. God’s promises
are lasting and transcending the human calculation.
Do we Know every obstacle is a
step closer to God?
Lk 10:17-24
At that very hour Jesus rejoiced
in the Holy Spirit and said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth,
because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have
revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All
things have been handed over to me by my father, and no one knows who the son
is except the Father… (Lk 10:21-22).
In a monastery all the monks sat
down for a discernment of something very crucial and they were not able to
discern for long time. A simple, humble young monk had the inspiration of Holy
Spirit to give the right suggestion and all accepted and the meeting
ended. It is not that the wealthy,
powerful and authority that the inspiration of Holy Spirit rests but with the
simple and humble and child-like attitude. Let us pray that we possess the
attitude of children, the simplicity and humility. Today is the feast of St
Teresa of Child Jesus, who really lived the simplicity and humility in her life
and became a great saint by being within the cloister convent. She loved Jesus
so much and Jesus loved her much more!
When is the last moment you felt
the need to be simple and humble?
