God’s Promises will be True!
29th Week Monday in Ordinary Time
Year One
Rom 4:20-25
Meditation
God’s Promises
will be True!
God keeps his
promise. God made humans to be happy forever. Humans disobeyed God. Not only
the first parents disobeyed God but each one of us disobey God daily. Humans
choose their own ways and means of being happy but they fail to find happiness.
God promised to humans that he would bring them back to his kingdom. God made
it possible through his Son Jesus Christ. Humans have to trust in the promise
of God. God’s promises are not empty. God’s promises will be fulfilled in right
time. God’s promises are not just about food and drink but of eternal life. God
makes us happy by carrying out his promises in life. Today humans want
automatic fulfilment of promises of God. One should realise life is not
automatic but it is to be lived in time and space to realise the life and its
sorrows and joys. God’s promises are a full package of long journey which is
perfectly planned with its ups and downs of the Journey.
Do we trust in
the fulfilment of the promises of God?
Year Two
Eph 2:1-10
Are We Sons of Disobedience?
Human beings have been
disobedient to the promptings of the Spirit of God. We are disobedient because
we follow the passions of the flesh and desires of the body. If we think about
passions and desires, we will disobey God. Disobedience to the spirit of God
can cause us harm.
We have hope in our disobedience
through the grace and saving action of Jesus. We are saved by Jesus to obey and
follow the will of the Father. It is not just preaching and teaching but Jesus
lived it by dying on the cross accepting the will of the Father. Jesus is the
model and means to overcome our disobedience.
Do we look for material gain in
seeking God’s will?
Lk 12:13-21
Riches are to Share!
Someone in the crowd said to him,
“Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.” But he
said to him, “Friend, who set me to be a judge or arbitrator over you?” And he
said to them, “Take care! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed, for
one’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions.” (Lk 12:13-15).
The people of Israel, when they
were in the desert, they were told to collect manna for the daily need but they
collected and stored extra manna for next day. When we see good things, we feel
greedy. We have enough wealth in the world for all the needs of people but not
enough things for the greed of people. Greed makes us possessive of something
and as a result, it devoids and deprives the needs of deserving people. The
possessions and abundance of things will not guarantee the prolonged life on
earth. Let us realize that riches are to be shared to prolong life on earth.
Do you believe that riches are to
be gathered or shared?
