Meditation
Unity is Grace!
To be precise,
law will save the person but faith in Jesus is greater than law; faith in Jesus
saves because it includes the law and goes beyond it. We are saved by faith in
the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Law does its good work but not all that is needed for the salvation;
faith in Jesus is complete and it will grace us with salvation. One is justified not only by the acts of law
but by faith in Jesus. Faith in Jesus does not exclude the good deeds and law.
Law and good deeds are human effort which are good in themselves but faith in
Jesus is the saving act of God which cancels sins those even the law and good
deeds cannot do it.
God is not only
God of Jews; the chosen people of God. God is God of all; every human person is
God’s loving child and we belong to him. God loves all humans and he wants to
save all people. He has no favourites; God saves everyone without any
distinctions and the distinctions are a fact in this world and it causes
problem and division but God is beyond the division in giving salvation to
humans. The true follower of Christ is beyond all divisions, uniting everyone
and fostering communion instead of discord and division.
Do we foster
unity and communion in our family, community, church and society?
Year Two
Eph 1:1-10
God Made Us in Freedom!
God predestined us in love.
Predestination is a theological standpoint that one is either destined for
heaven or hell. If so, what is the use of our effort to live a righteous life?
One loses hope and trust in God and oneself. There is a chance for a carefree
life or an irresponsible life. St Paul tells the Ephesians that God, in his
fullness and riches, has planned to unite everything in the appointed time.
There is no automatic salvation
or eternal. God has created us in his image and likeness; it would imply that
we are made in freedom and responsibility. As long as one is responsible and
free in love are expected to live up to the will of God in freedom. This fact
places the responsibility on the shoulders of human persons to cooperate with
God or not cooperate with God. The choice is with humans to be saved or not be
saved. God is love and freedom.
Do you know that love gives
responsibility and freedom and not determination?
Lk 11:47-54
Laws are for Good!
Woe to you experts in the law!
For you have taken away the key of knowledge; you did not enter yourselves, and
you hindered those who were entering.” ( Lk 11:52)
Law is to help. Law is to do
justice to both the parties. The law experts should not side with one party or
the other but support for the good outcome of the application of law. It
happens that laws are made but not practiced or applicable to law givers. Some
are beyond law and above law; law is law for all. We are under the law in the
society and above all we are under the Divine law. Law helps for good living. A
lawless society is in chaos. We are happy that we have natural law, civil law
and Divine law. Keep the law and law
will keep you. Law is not to control but to help. Law should be utilized for
the good of the persons but not for their deterrent. If we are not careful, we
use the law for harm than for good.
Those of us who are in-charge of
keeping the law, do we apply laws for good?
