Check If Our
Actions are Wise!
The one who has
wisdom has everything. King Solomon asked God for the gift of wisdom. He asked
for wisdom because if one possesses wisdom, one possesses everything. God gave
King Solomon wisdom and riches. He forgot about God; rather, his wives misled
him, and they forgot about the God who gave him wisdom. In the case of humans,
it is not certain that the persons who possess wisdom remain in wisdom; they
can be misled by the evil one. As long as one desires to do God’s will in the wisdom
of God, one will be wise.
The scripture
describes wisdom wonderfully: “There is in her a spirit that is intelligent,
holy, unique, manifold, subtle, mobile, clear, unpolluted, distinct,
invulnerable, loving the good, keen, irresistible, beneficent, humane,
steadfast, sure, free from anxiety, all-powerful, overseeing all, and
penetrating through all spirits that are intelligent, pure, and altogether
subtle. For wisdom is more mobile than any motion; because of her pureness she
pervades and penetrates all things.” (Wis 7:22-24)
When was the
last time you noted that you were wise?

Philem 1:7-20

No More as a Slave but as a
Beloved Brother!
St Paul writes to Philemon to
receive Onesimus not as a slave but as a beloved brother. St Paul became father
to him in faith, and Onesimus became his child. A bond of faith. Faith in Jesus
can unite people. Let us grow in the bonds of faith as children of the Father
in heaven. Earlier, he was not useful, and now he is useful to Philemon and to
St Paul as well.
St Paul does not demand that
Philemon in faith receive Onesimus as a brother, but he appeals. A true father
and mother do not demand respect, honour and obedience from their children.
They appeal to them with love and concern. Such an appeal from the parents has
an impact on the children to obey and follow the instructions of the parents.
Do we appeal or demand obedience?
Lk 17:20-25
Speak of Christ!
Once Jesus was asked by the
Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, and he answered, “The kingdom of
God is not coming with things that can be observed, nor will they say, ‘Look,
here it is!’ or ‘There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you.”
(Lk 17:20-21).
The people of Israel were waiting
for years for the coming of the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is present
when God is present among us. With the coming of Jesus, the Kingdom of God has
come. We are in the rule of God. In our lifetime, we are looking forward to the
Kingdom of God. Yes, we do look for it that is going to come at the end of the
world. Jesus brought the Kingdom of God among us. We do wait in hope for the fullness
of the Kingdom of God, but the Kingdom of God is among us. It is our duty to
find it and make it known to others through our good deeds.
How do I make the Kingdom of God known
to others?
