Meditation
Love God!
Eleazar was
forced eat the flesh of swine, but he chooses to death rather than eating
undefiled food. Even if life is short span of life, it is better to live by the
law and be holy. Eleazar shows us a right and clear path to holiness and to
follow the law of God. At time the present generation of people are not able to
have clear mind set and steadiness to follow the law of God. The sweetness of
life and allurements of the world attract them, to give up the holy law and
God’s ways of holy life. It is easy to choose evil and sin than God and
goodness. Eleazar is model for us to live a life of discipline, to love God
above everything and everyone.
What is the
sacrifice we make to love God?
Year Two
Rev 3:1-6, 14-22
If We Open the Door, the Lord
will Come to Eat with Us.
No one, rich or poor, powerful or
knowledgeable, escapes pain in life. Troubles, trials, and suffering purify the
person. They are medicinal for life and not for destruction. Those who are
purified dress in white. Purification is necessary for sanctification. If we
are lukewarm, neither cold nor hot will be spat out; likewise, the Lord will
deal with the persons of lukewarm.
The Lord says ‘Those whom I love,
I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door
and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him
and eat with him, and he with me.’ Those who are conquered will sit with the
Father on the throne of heaven. Let us open the door for the Lord to come in
and dine with us.
Are we aware that to be with God,
purification is necessary?
Lk 19:1-10
Lord Comes to Our Help!
He entered Jericho and was passing through
it. A man was there named Zacchaeus; he
was a chief tax collector and was rich.
He was trying to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could
not, because he was short in stature. So
he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree to see him, because he was going to
pass that way. When Jesus came to the
place, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I
must stay at your house today.” So he hurried down and was happy to welcome him. All who saw it began to grumble and said, “He
has gone to be the guest of one who is a sinner.” Zacchaeus stood there and said to the Lord,
“Look, half of my possessions, Lord, I will give to the poor, and if I have
defrauded anyone of anything, I will pay back four times as much.” Then Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has
come to this house, because he, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek out and to
save the lost.” (Lk 19:1-10).
Today’s gospel narrates very good
story with a great message for eternal life. Children would like this story. If
you have time narrate to them this story. It is very interesting narrative of
Jesus. Jesus was trying to convey to the people the purpose of his coming for the
last, lost and least. One way or the other all fall in this category of the
last, lost and least in the world. As human we are weak, frail and drained
physically and spiritually. The Lord has come for our sake to give us life in
this world and the next world.
Do you know that you are like
Zacchaeus?
