Try to Know God!
33rd week Monday in Ordinary Time
Year One
1 Macc 1:10-15,

Meditation
Try to Know God!
Then the king
wrote to his whole kingdom that all should be one people, and that all should
give up their particular customs. 43 All the Gentiles accepted the command of
the king. Many even from Israel gladly adopted his religion; they sacrificed to
idols and profaned the sabbath. (V 41-42)
Good living,
well-being, feel good action, self-care, self-satisfaction can lead us away
from God. Going away from true God, genuine tradition and worshipping gods of
human making can take us away from God. The people Israel living in foreign
land and foreign culture forgot their God. Our God is jealous God. He wants us
to love him. God loved humans much; God is unhappy and angry, when they go way
in worshiping other gods who are not real. God revealed himself to humans from
ages. God continues to reveal himself to us from our experience and the
situation of life. One should be able to listen to the promoting of the Spirit
to know the true God. The revelation has taken place and we have means and ways
to know God and communicate with him. Still, it can happen the genuine
revelation is not reached to all people and it may be a fact that people are
still in darkness without knowing true God. Everyone should make an effort to
know the true God and to worship him.
Do we know the
traces of finding true God?
Year Two
Rev 1:1-4, 2:1-5
We have Changed!
God reveals many things to John
the beloved disciple, about the churches. God has been manifesting himself in
so many ways, in the last days he sent his son Jesus to reveal. Once Jesus ascended into heaven God did it
necessary to manifest himself. One of the ways that God reveals and foretells
about the future is in the book of Revelation.
One of God's vivid manifestations
is that the faithful have abandoned their initial love for God. They have
fallen, so they need to repent and do the work that they did before. God is
going to remove the lampstand from our way unless we repent.
Are we aware that we have
returned to our old sinful ways?
Lk 18:35-43
Pray the Jesus
Prayer!
As he
approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard a crowd going by, he asked what
was happening. They told him, “Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.” Then he
shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Those who were in front
sternly ordered him to be quiet, but he shouted even more loudly, “Son of
David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stood still and ordered the man to be brought
to him, and when he came near, he asked him, “What do you want me to do for
you?” He said, “Lord, let me see again.” Jesus said to him, “Receive your
sight; your faith has saved you.” Immediately he regained his sight and
followed him, glorifying God, and all the people, when they saw it, praised
God. (Lk 18:35-43).
The prayer of the blind man is
powerful, meaningful and it gives meaning, purpose and salvation to many
people. The Prayer is “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Today try to
pray this prayer and see, how it will be helpful to you. It is the prayer which
many Saints prayed. Today repeat the prayer as many times as possible, it could
be done in your own mother tongue.
Let us Pray “Jesus, Son of David,
have mercy on me!”
