Use Authority for Good!
32nd week Monday in Ordinary Time
Year One
Wis 1:1-7
Meditation
Use Authority for Good!
Truth and
Goodness will win. Deceit and evil will lose. Many take a shortcut to achieve
success. The way to truth and goodness is hard. The way to destruction is easy
and wide. The evil doers are destined to be losers. The genuine souls will have
the joy of the Lord. The faith-filled persons will not put the Lord to the
test, but they trust in him. The evil persons put the Lord to the test.
The Lord loves
those who do not test him, for God is to be trusted and believed. The evil
persons choose the wrong way of life. The word of God today invites the rulers
of the earth to choose and love righteousness. The rulers have the power and
authority to use it for the good of others. The power and authority of the
rulers are sometimes wrongly used for their personal gain and in the game of
life.
Is the love of
authority used for righteousness?
Year Two
Titus 1:1-9
Lead by Example!
God called St Paul to be his
minister in a special way. He lived up to the call and built communities of
faith in Jesus. He appointed leaders to take care of the communities. Titus is
one of them. Leaders have a special responsibility to lead and guide by word
and example.
Our community leaders are not to
be arrogant, quick-tempered, drunkards, violent, or greedy for gain, but
hospitable, a lover of good, self-controlled, upright, holy and disciplined. He
must teach and preach what he instructs so that even those who contradict may
follow the right path.
Do we pray for the leaders of our
communities?
Lk 17:1-6
Recall the Wonders of God!
The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our
faith!” The Lord replied, “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you
could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it
would obey you (Lk 17:5-6).
We say that faith works miracles.
Have faith, and you will see the wonders happening in life. Do we have faith?
What is our faith? What do we do with our faith? Do we put our faith to the test? Whatever may be your effort with regard to
faith in God, faith is a gift of God. You cannot get it or buy it. It is free
gift of God. Even those who have had faith lost it because they were careless
or lost grace. At one time or another in life, we do doubt our faith in God and
the people around us. The very loss of faith is the way to grow strong in
faith. Believe and it happens. Let us pray for the gift of faith.
Recall how many times wonders
happened in your life because of your faith?
