Jesus, Son of David, Have Mercy on Us.
6th December 2024
1st Week Advent
Friday
Is 29:17-24
Meditation
At the coming of the Lord, there
will be good days. The deaf will hear, and the blind will see. The lowly will
rejoice, and the poor will praise God; the tyrants shall not exit,
ridiculers will disappear, and all the evil ones will be disposed of.
A Good time will come when those
who are in error will learn to be wise, and the grumblers will accept the
teaching of the Lord. There will be change in the world and among the people.
Everyone, at every time and age, looks for change for good. One has to
transform himself/herself and the situation around oneself.
Do we look for change around us?
Gospel: Mt 9:27-31
Meditation
Jesus, Son of David, Have Mercy on Us.
As Jesus went on, two blind men
followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” (Mt 9:27).
The greeting and calling out of
the two blind men are apt to address Jesus.
Jesus is the Son of David. He is the expected Messiah. ‘Have mercy on us’ is the best prayer for
seeking and asking for repentance. The
Lord came to preach repentance. The very first call of St John the Baptist and
Jesus is the Kingdom of hand is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel. The call of the blind men, ‘Have mercy on us,
Son of David!’ is a fitting prayer for mercy and to give them sight. If you
like this prayer, say it often on this day. Today, we are not deprived of sight
but of spiritual sight, living in spiritual darkness.
Do I like to call Jesus, Son of
David, Have mercy on me?
