Hope for Good!

Isa 65:17-21

Hope for Good!

The Lord promises through Isaiah the New World. The old world in our past, our pain, our sorrow, our failure, our illness, our bad memories and so on. In the new world, all these will be absent, and even the bad memories will disappear. This is the kind of world that everyone envisages for themselves. Everyone wants to be away from their problems and difficulties, looking for peace and tranquillity. Humans strongly hope for a world where there will be joy, peace and happiness.

The world that humans look forward to is a world of stability and prosperity. There will be stable rules and stable dwellings, and the elderly will live up to a hundred. They will have plenty to eat and drink. The Lord will be there to help and support. There will be no weeping and wailing. All this will be in Jerusalem, the eternal city of God. The City of Jerusalem is a model city for all cities. A city of God’s presence, his promises and the fulfilment of God’s will.

Are we looking for a new world?

Gospel: Jn 4:43-54

Meditation

The court official sought Jesus' help to cure his sick son. The court official believed Jesus' words that his son would live. He set his journey back home, and, on the way, his servants came to tell him that his son was well. The court official realized that was the hour that Jesus told him that his son would live and be well.

The words of Jesus are powerful. God’s word is powerful. Where do we find God’s word? God gives us messages and speaks to us through people. God’s word is written down for us in the Bible. Let us read the Word of God. The Word of God can do wonders in our lives. We may not be able to listen to the words of Jesus directly but we have his words in the scriptures.

Do we believe in the power of the Words of Jesus?
