Christ is the Head of the Faith Community!

Christ is the Head of the Faith Community!
After the execution of Stephen, the community of believers was
scattered. The faith was among Jews in the beginning, and it has reached the
Greeks in Antioch. It was in Antioch the first time the believers in Jesus
were named as Christians. The message and life of Jesus is no longer restricted
to the Jewish community. It became the path and belief of all sections of
people. The word of God is preached to many people.
On hearing the news that there was a community of believers
in Antioch Barnabas was sent from the church of Jerusalem. Barnabas and Saul
met with the church and taught great members of people. There was a new
community of people called Christians; those belong to Christ Jesus and
believed in him. In fact with baptism, everyone becomes a new creation in the
Lord and new persons belonging to the great family of Christ.
Do you believe that through baptism we belong to Christ as a
community of believers?
Gospel: Jn 10:22-30
Meditation
In Jerusalem, the Jews gathered around Jesus and asked, ‘How
long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ, let us know.’ Jesus
told them, ‘I told you, and you do not believe. The works I do bear witness to
the Father. You do not believe for you are not among the sheep.’ Jews asked a
very good question, and they did receive an answer. But their hearts were closed, and they found
it hard to believe in Jesus as the Christ.
It is not information and knowledge that matter when it
comes to have faith in Jesus. It is a gift and grace that Jesus calls to
himself, those whom he loves. We only need to cooperate with him and his ways
in following his Word.
Do we believe that Jesus is the Christ, who came into this
world?
